The other day I was reading a blog about seeing answers to prayers that we haven’t prayed and it really resonated with me. It is a wonderful and important thing to pray and present our requests to the Lord, as we are taught in Philippians 4:6, but I was struck how, over and above these prayers we have prayed, God also answers prayers we never knew to pray.
Daily, we receive grace-filled moments, small blessings and gifts big and small that we never asked for but are given by our Father just the same. As I was reflecting on this I was reminded of this verse.
Your Father knows what things you need before you ask him. Matthew 6:8

He knows what we need more than we do and each day has so many mercies in all shapes and sizes that are given as gifts.
There have been some very challenging times of late and sometimes it feels like the difficult things in life make up the majority of our days. Sometimes challenging circumstances can fill up our vision and we can struggle to see where God is in the midst of it all.
But this verse reminds us to look a little harder, to look to see the Father’s hand. As we take a moment to reflect on our days we can start to see how He was working all along, giving us the things we didn’t know we needed and answering both the prayers we prayed and those we didn’t know to pray.
I encourage you today to spend a moment reflecting and spotting the gifts, encouragements and blessings along the way.
